About – The Clock Work Shop

The Clock Work Shop was established in 1996 and is now run by Kevin Hurd, Richard Scorey and Simon Allen.

Kevin came to antique clocks having served an apprenticeship as a helicopter engineer and has a love of all things horological, but especially antique British longcase/grandfather clocks and lantern clocks.

In July 1998, Richard Scorey joined the business. Richard also had an engineering background before he completed the three year British Horological Institute examinations in technical horology, where he gained graduate status. In 2009 Richard was accepted as a Professional Member of the British Horological Institute. Richard now oversees The Clock Work Shop, Hampshire.

In January 2017, The Clock Work Shop struck up a partnership with Dorset Antique Clocks, owned by Simon Allen. Simon now takes care of The Clock Work Shop, Dorset.

He came into the antique clock business having served an apprenticeship under the world renowned Gerald. E. Marsh. Gerald helped many people build a number of the best private clock collections in the world and Simon was Geralds final apprentice, he’s now looking to emulate his old master. He was also the first apprentice to be approved for the George Daniels Educational Trust Scheme, which was rather an honour.

Whether you come to visit us in Dorset or Hampshire, you’ll be sure of a warm welcome at The Clock Work Shop.
