Rocking Ship Longcase Clock Signed Cleaveland Salter of Portsea

CIRCA. 1785

This fine longcase clock features the area in which it was made, with a rocking ship in the arch of the dial. The case made from beautiful mahogany veneers and the original Portsmouth pagoda.

The movement of 8-day duration strikes the hours to a bell and the dial is a single sheet of silvered engraved brass, featuring a calendar and seconds subsidiary, signed Cleaveland Salter of Portsea, with both roman and Arabic numerals and fine blued steel hands. Both the ship and its horizon are beautifully painted.

Serviced and guaranteed for 3 years.
