Small Regulator Longcase Clock Signed Pearce & Sons of Leicester

CIRCA. 1820

This fine regulator longcase epitomises the whole reason I enjoy clock making. The lengths that some people go to in order to improve timekeeping is often a joy to see and this is a fine specimen of that.

With beautiful proportions the small mahogany case boasts beautiful veneers, glazed door with brass surround to show off the quality workmanship to the mercury compensated pendulum, brass bound weight and scale plate. The 12” dial made from a single sheet of silvered engraved brass features roman numerals for the hour and Arabic numerals for the seconds and minutes, also signed Pearce & Sons, Leicester.

Inside is an attractive weight driven movement of 8-day duration, featuring some fine robust plates and 5 pillars holding them together, Harrisons maintaining power and jewelled dead-beat escapement.

A very well built and attractive clock indeed.

Serviced and guaranteed for 3 years.
