A Fine Marquetry Longcase Clock by Henry Massy of London
A very fine quality marquetry 8-day longcase clock by Henry Massy of London, which dates from the late 17th Century. A good quality 11” square brass dial with early rack striking movement and 5 knopped pillars. A typical London marquetry/walnut veneered case, of excellent colour and patination. The dial with finely matted centre, seconds and calendar with the makers name to chapter ring.
A highly attractive and outstanding piece from the golden age of clock making.
Henry Massy was the son of Nicholas Massy who was a maker of great repute. Henry Massy was registered as working himself between 1692 and 1707.
