Antique Clock Repairs

There are many theories as to why a clock might have stopped or isn’t working quite as it should, we’ve heard all sorts from “the clock’s been overwound!” to “I’m sure it just needs a flick of a pencil!”. No matter what’s gone wrong, we know how to put it right.

At The Clock Work Shop we have a team of highly skilled horologists who each specialise in various different fields of horology, so whether your carriage clock has only just stopped striking, or your longcase hasn’t worked for years, we guarantee that we can get it working again, in the same way as it should have originally. All replacement parts are made in our own workshops. As well as clock repair & restoration, we undertake routine servicing of clock mechanisms to make sure that they continue to function well and preserve the life of the clock for years to come.

We will estimate the cost of any repair or restoration of a clock or barometer for free, and can advise on all aspects of clock care. For complete assurance to our customers almost all repair work is guaranteed for 2 years.

Skilled Horologists

We are lucky to have a number of highly skilled artisans working at The Clock Work Shop, these individuals include specialist Horologists (Clockmakers), Dial painters, and furniture restorers who between them can offer a service second to none.

Restoration

Restoration is a very different art to servicing as it demands a far more intimate knowledge of the techniques used in traditional horology, and a greater experience in the aesthetic and mechanical designs used throughout the history of clock making.
