A Fine Antique Brass & Silvered Octagonal Pocket Sundial & Compass with Original Leather-bound Case.

Made by Johann Martin of Augsburg (Germany), this equinoctial compass sundial can be used throughout the degrees of 41-60, which include the majority of Europe, from Spain up to Scandinavia, with a table of latitudes for 34 cities on the bottom of the compass.

Above the table of latitudes is the compass, which is signed/engraved “Johann Martin in Augsburg 48” around its edge, to which the folding hour scale and latitude arc are attached.

Accompanied by its original leather case.
