A stunning quality English 8-day striking fusee four glass bracket clock in an exceptional rosewood case. The substantial twin fusee movement with anchor escapement strikes the hours on a bell.
6 ¾” painted dial with Roman numerals is signed “Barraud & Lund, Cornhill, London” and also numbered “1856”, the dial is finished with the original finely blued steel hands.
The impressive rosewood case with glazed doors to the front, back, and glazed panels to both sides. Victorian clock making at its very best.
Barraud & Lunds:
The company was founded by the eminent chronometer maker Paul Philip Barraud at Cornhill, London C.1795. They changed their name to Barraud & Lunds in 1838 when John Richard Lund became a partner, and the company finally closed in 1929. During their time, they were celebrated makers for their high-quality chronometers, pocket watches and clocks.
