  • Fusee Five Glass Library Clock by Dent A quality 8-day timepiece movement, with chain fusee, an anchor escapement and a London-style pendulum. The back plate is engraved ‘Dent, 4 Royal Exchange, Cornhill’ and also features a pendulum lock for use when transporting the clock. Silvered brass dial similarly signed Dent, 4 Royal Exchange, with engraved Roman numerals and floral swags to the corners, all within a silvered mask. Original non-matching blued steel hands.   • Henri Marc of Paris Boulle Wall Clock Standard French 8-day movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell, via a count-wheel. Brocot fine regulation in the dial above the 12 ‘o’ clock position. The Ormolu 4.5” dial features individual enamel cartouches and an enamel centre signed Hen Marc of Paris, all with blue decoration. Matching, finely pierced, blued steel hands. The case is of a most unusual design, featuring red Boulle and Mother of Pearle inlay, with quality Ormolu mounts. C.1850 Height: 17½” or 45cm £5,250

  • John Witherston of Hereford Quarter Striking Bracket Clock A rare, provincially made triple fusee bracket clock striking the hours on a bell, and the quarters on a nest of six bells. At each quarter, a peal runs down the bells, once on the quarter, twice on the half hour, and so on. 8-day, original verge escapement, with strike/silent on a string on either side of the case, allowing for operation without opening the case door. 7” finely matted brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed John Witherston of Hereford. Crown spandrels, a mock pendulum, and a square calendar box above the 6‘o’ clock position. Ebonised case, slightly smaller than standard, with finely cast handle, finials and feet. Glazed side windows, with cast brass, silk-backed sound frets just above the windows. Glazed rear door. John Witherston is listed as working from 1700 to 1734.
