Automata Rocking Ship Longcase Clock by Clarke of Dorchester
A very good quality 8-day weight driven clock movement with anchor escapement, striking the hours on a bell via a rack and snail striking system.
The clock has excellent proportions with superb flame mahogany veneers, beautifully original painted dial with rocking ship in the break arch powered by the pendulum swinging back and forth, a Roman numeral chapter ring with subsidiary seconds, date aperture and finely blued steel hands.
